Some of the most meaningful moments in my life began long before I ever became a homeschool mom.

As a fourth grader, my classroom shared a wall with the special education classroom. While many students barely noticed the children next door, I was drawn to them. Those friendships continued throughout school and quietly planted a seed that God would continue to grow for years to come.

By my senior year of high school, I was serving as a peer aide for a fellow senior with autism. Watching him gain confidence and earn a B in math wasn't just rewarding—it changed the direction of my life.

At the time, I thought I was going to beauty school. But after being diagnosed with a heart condition, those plans unexpectedly changed. Looking back, I can clearly see that what felt like a disappointment was actually God's loving redirection into the work He had been preparing me for all along.

I went on to study Human Services and Management and spent the following years working with children and adults with developmental disabilities. I provided behavioral therapy for children with autism in the public school system and later worked on an intensive behavioral support team serving adults with developmental disabilities. During those years, I received specialized training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), and relationship-based teaching strategies.

My passion for serving families also extended into the local church. Over the years, I helped establish special needs ministries in three churches, training volunteers and equipping teams to confidently welcome and support children with diverse needs and their families. I served as both a buddy trainer and a special needs ministry leader, believing every child deserved to be seen, valued, loved, and fully included in the life of the church.

One of the greatest privileges of my career was founding Sunshine Early Intervention, an organization created to provide immediate support for families following an autism diagnosis while they waited for insurance-funded behavioral services. As access to services expanded, the organization evolved into Sunshine Autism Resources, allowing us to serve families in even more meaningful ways through advocacy, behavioral support, academic support, school shadowing, homeschooling guidance, and parent training. My heart has always been to come alongside families, equip them with practical tools, and help them confidently advocate for their children.

Today, I'm blessed to be married to my husband, Mike, and together we're raising four incredible children. We've been homeschooling all four of our children from the very beginning, and they are now 5, 10, 14, and 16 years old. Walking through every stage of homeschooling—from teaching a child to read to preparing a teenager for adulthood—has given me a deep appreciation for both the joys and the challenges families experience throughout the homeschool journey.

After moving to Idaho, I began teaching homeschool classes for local families. It didn't take long before I noticed something that deeply burdened my heart. Many children who were struggling in their homeschool journey didn't need less—they needed more. More patience. More understanding. More encouragement. More support. Most of all, they needed a place where they were truly seen, fully loved, and given the opportunity to succeed.

At the same time, I saw parents carrying the weight of trying to meet the unique needs of their children while often feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or unsure where to turn for help.

That burden became the vision for Ms. Bee's Homeschool.

I wanted to create a place where every child was welcomed, valued, and encouraged to grow at their own pace. A place where different learning styles were embraced, friendships were built, curiosity was encouraged, and families never felt judged for doing what was best for their child.

I believe God has uniquely gifted every child. Sometimes those gifts are easy to recognize, and sometimes they are hidden beneath frustration, fear, learning challenges, or difficult behaviors. One of my greatest joys is helping parents discover those gifts, understand their children more deeply, and build confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Today, that same vision extends beyond the classroom. Through homeschool classes, parent coaching, educational resources, and encouragement, my desire is to help families create peaceful, confident homeschools where children are understood, challenged, encouraged, and loved.

One truth has shaped nearly everything I do:

Behavior is communication.

When we begin to understand the "why" behind a child's behavior, we stop simply reacting and begin responding with wisdom, compassion, and confidence. That simple perspective has transformed the way I teach, the way I parent, and the way I encourage other families.

Above all, my faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of everything I do.

I believe God has entrusted parents with one of the greatest callings imaginable—to disciple and educate the children He has given them. It is a privilege to walk alongside families, encourage them through difficult seasons, celebrate their victories, and remind them that they do not have to navigate this journey alone.
